Lion King Tickets and Seating
The musical debuted in 1997, three years after the release of the animated feature. The production at the Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis featured incredible design work by Richard Hudson, Julie Taymor, and Michael Curry and music and lyrics by Elton John and Tim Rice. The stage version bowled over the audience, making Lion King a sure hit once it transferred to Broadway for the 2007 theatre season.
Lion King the Musical debuted on Broadway at the New Amsterdam Theater on October 15, 1997, moving to the Minskoff Theatre on June 13, 2006 to give another Disney production chance. The Broadway production won for Best Musical and five other Tony Awards.
The production is still running today. Lion King tickets are sold around the world for productions in just about every major city with a thriving theatre scene. The story of Simba and his personal journey to take his rightful place as King of Pride Rock simply crosses all cultural and language barriers.
