Cadillac Palace Tickets and Seating
The Nederlander Organization is ecstatic to put on its own production of Wicked at the Cadillac Palace Theatre. The theatre, located at 151 W. Randolph St. in the Loop, is operated by Broadway in Chicago, a joint venture by the theater owners the Nederlander Organization and Live Nation. The partnership was forged a year after the Cadillac Palace re-opened as venue for major live theatrical productions, previously existing as a rock venue named the Bismark Theatre.
The theater is one of several venues enjoying the big musical theatrical revival downtown in a city noted for its smaller theaters dotting the many neighborhoods that comprise the city.
A major tourist draw, the Cadillac Palace Theatre holds 2,344 people at capacity and has even been honored as the venue many Broadway hits previewed before flourishing in New York. It also is a common venue for touring productions of Broadway mainstays, embarking on massive touring schedules.
The building has never been closed, unlike many of today’s important theaters outside of New York City. It opened in 1926 as the New Palace Theatre and was part of the $12 million construction of the Eitel Block Project. Designed by the Rapp Brothers, the venue design found its inspiration in the Fountainebleau and the Palace of Versailles. Particularly of note are the gigantic decorative mirrors, intricate marble, and walls laced with gold leafing below the impressive arches and their brass ornamentation.
Since re-opening as a theater, Aida, the Producers, and the Color Purple began preview runs here. Touring productions of Mary Poppins and Shrek have graced the stage as well.
