Fabulous Fox Theatre - MO Tickets and Seating
The Fabulous Fox, or Fox Theatre, was constructed just before the market crashed in 1929. Then it was a movie house built by William Fox, the founder of Fox Film Corporation, the precursor to the modern-day Fox television and film empire.
This was one of several Fox theatres around the nation, mostly located in major cities. This particular Fox theater opened as the second largest movie venue in the nation, with a capacity of 5,060. Despite the ensuing Depression, the Fox Theatre remained open and dominated the movie market in St. Louis well into the 1960s.
Eventually the venue fell on hard times and the Fabulous Fox Theatre closed in March 1978. Three years later Fox Associates purchased the building and spent $3 million restoring the grand mosque-influenced interior and exterior. The Fox re-opened in 1982 as a live stage, hosting a national tour of Barnum for its debut in September.
The Fabulous Fox has thrived ever since, celebrating its 25th anniversary as a live production theater in 2007 before a packed house of 4,278 seated patrons and 234 full private club seats. Wicked the Musical is the latest touring Broadway production to grace the stage here and Wicked tickets are quickly selling out to these long-awaited play dates.
