Sarofim Hall - Hobby Center Tickets and Seating
The Hobby Center is the performing art complex on the edge of the Houston Theater District that replaced the Houston Music Hall and Sam Houston Coliseum as the cultural center of the city when it opened in 2002. Designed by Robert A. M. Stern and Morris Architects, the performing arts center’s design drew inspiration from the work of Herts & Tallant, the most influential theater designers in Manhattan in the beginning of the 20th century.
Saforim Hall is one of two theaters housed inside the Hobby Center. It is the larger of the two, built to accommodate 2,650 and specifically to draw national Broadway tours. The theater interior is a three-tiered haven where theater fanatics can sit amongst the stars, a visual effect created with walls painted midnight blue and fiber optic lights dotting the expansive dome overhead. Beautifully detailed with latticework along the hall’s perimeter and gold-leaf columns supporting the upper gallery, this hall is one of the finest in the nation and a more than worthy venue to see Wicked live.
The Hobby Center also features a smaller hall, Zikha Hall. Zikha Hall is a 500-seat is dedicated to giving Houston companies a place to perform. Psophonia Dance Companty, the Maggini String Orchestra, and Ars Lyrica Houston call this smaller theater home.
