Saroyan Theatre - Fresno Convention Center Tickets and Seating
The Saroyan Theatre is a 2,353-seat venue named after William Saroyan, a famed novelist and playwright who wrote many a story based in his hometown of Fresno, California. The theater provides a home to the Fresno Philharmonic Orchestra and Fresno Ballet as well as hosts traveling Broadway productions. Broadway Across America has already brought Les Mis, The Sound of Music, Evita, Cats, and Evita, but Wicked the Musical may be the most successful of all these productions by the end of its national tour’s stay.
The Saroyan Theatre opened its doors to the public for the first time on October 14, 1966 with a concert featuring Thomas Griswold conducting an orchestra performing works by Beethoven, Edward Elgar, Aaron Copland, and Maurice Ravel. The theater was the first of the four buildings to welcome the public at the Fresno Convention Center, but it is not the largest.
The largest part of the complex is the Sellard Arena, an 11,300-capacity arena that has become home to the local arena football team (the Central Valley Coyotes of the af2), the Fresno State men’s basketball team, many a concert date, and even WWE events like the Royal Rumble and Fully Loaded. The convention center also includes Valdez Hall and Exhibit Hall, two multi-purpose buildings often used as convention space.
